Earlier this year I went to see a talk by David Nicholls - author of One Day, Us and You are Here at @charlestontrust Festival… he talked about how some of the greatest stories have the theme of “longing”… Great Expectations, Far from the Madding Crowd and indeed, One Day. That word stayed with me.

Saudade is a Portuguese word with no direct translation in the English language… it’s a feeling of longing. To me, longing transcends time. It’s where all of our past, our future, our present and memories collide… something that will forever always hold a special place in your heart.

This was to become the inspiration for the 3 of Spades ♠️♠️♠️
